    Hi Jacquelyn! The indentions on the back of the stamp are not scratches, rather an impression from the stamp on the front! This is why we do not offer things such as back stamping! Hand stamping is a high-impact process and despite our substantial metals, a slight impression shows through on the reverse side. Hopefully this helps clarify a bit. xx
